Another School year has begun!

Well I can't believe how time flies I find myself saying this cliche more often but its so true. My son Alex starts his 2nd semester as a Freshman at college (he started last sping semester) his major is social work with maybe becoming a priest on the back burner but in the meantime he would like to discern this calling and he is leaning on thinking he is called to married life and to be a father someday so whatever direction his life takes him I will be super proud of either choice. He had a great summer and even visited New York City with his friends and spent some of the summer hiking the Appalachian trail! My baby girl is in 10th grade this year she had a great summer swimming, going to movies and hanging out with frineds. She is a beautiful smart creative girl, taking painting classes in school, she is fearless and wants to either be a policewoman or go in the Navy when whe graduates both options scare me very much and I would like her to just either go to college for a "safe" job calling or aspire to be a mother and wife someday but it seems she likes life a little more "on the edge" hence the will to be a cop or go in the military. She has an adventurous soul and you can bet I will be praying she doesn't become a cop thats such a dangerous job for anyone especially a woman. My Uncle Marshall only has weeks to live I visited him today with my Aunt Barbara at their home. He is comfortable and even said "Hi Amy" to me it was so good to see him again. I am very close to my Aunt Barbara she has been like a best friend in resent years.I must say WOW my Uncle is an amazing artist some of his paintings look like Thomas Kinkade and I will take pics next time and post them!
We got on the topic of gay family and we both agree that we need to show our gay friends and families support, love, and respect and not jusge them, thats God's job. Some of the family has been not so nice about this topic. Now that we have such an ill family member it has kind of brought us all back together to support each other especially my Aunt who will be all alone for the first time in many many years. I have very close family who are gay but "not practicing" lol if you call it that and I will love them till the day I die and always be there for them I would never "shun" someone because of their choices in life, even if they decide to live with a partner I want to always be a part of their lives. These friends and family members have been some of the most caring, compassionate souls and they are the ones out doing the good deeds taking care of ill family and being there to just ask "How are you doin". This shows a lot of Jesus in them and goodness in them. Something us Christians need to remember no matter how we feel about gay marriage and topics like that. Wishing you all a great new school year! Love, Amy
